A small practice for AI reflection

Reflecting with AI means examining one real situation with a model, then writing down a conclusion and one next step. The model can question an interpretation; the judgement stays with the person reflecting.

Use AI to examine one situation, then write down what you think and what you will do. You can do this in any notebook. In nenspace, the conversation and your logbook live alongside each other.

1 · what actually happened?

Choose one ordinary event or decision. Write two sentences about the facts, then one about your interpretation. Keep the two separate.

For example, you postponed sending a draft twice. That is an observation. Thinking that the draft must be terrible is an interpretation.

2 · what is one useful question to ask?

Here is a starting prompt you can adapt. It is an example of what to ask, not a recorded model response.

I postponed sending a draft twice. I think that means it is not ready. What information would help me test that interpretation, and what is one small next step?

Read the answer as a suggestion. If it invents a motive or accepts your interpretation too quickly, say what is missing. Agreement is not evidence. Check the answer against the facts, or read about AI sycophancy.

3 · what conclusion is worth keeping?

Highlight a useful line to keep it as a note, or open the logbook and write your own conclusion. One next step is enough.

  • What happened?
  • What did I assume?
  • What will I test or do next?
  • When will I check what happened?

What happened after the step?

After taking the step, add one sentence about the result. The record helps you compare an expectation with an observation. You decide whether the conversation was useful.
